This level 2 diploma course is aimed at those who are unable or unwilling to take the three-year RACHP apprenticeship but still want to qualify as a Technician in Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pumps. This provides the knowledge and basic practical skills required for a technician in this industry while further development of the practical skills are carried out in the workplace.

There are no entry qualifications required, but candidates must be employed in the industry, and it is essential that they are interested and keen to learn. Taught in small class sizes by enthusiastic, knowledgeable trainers (all qualified teachers themselves) within superb practical facilities.

What’s included in the course?

Six one week blocks of attendance per academic year are completed in the Training Centre (12 weeks over 2 years in total).

Providing a thorough underpinning knowledge in RACHP theory including:

• Heat transfer
• Vapour compression system principles
• System operating conditions
• Fault finding
• Electrics
• Pressure testing
• Evacuation and dehydration
• F Gas training / air conditioning training

Sufficient practical skills to:

• Braze and fabricate pipework
• Work on basic electrical systems
• Install and commission systems
• Service and maintain systems
• Find and rectify faults

HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED?

Candidates will take four on-line City & Guilds examinations including F Gas at Category 1 (which will take place part way through the second year) and complete a series of practical assignments to demonstrate their skills as an air conditioning / refrigeration trainee.

THE ANNUAL FEE INCLUDES:

£3950 + VAT per year (including F Gas Assessment) chargeable when booking a place on the course and again at the start of the second year.
This fee includes course notes, City & Guilds registration, exam fees and certificates (for successful candidates).
