Experienced Workers NVQ in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
Level 2 or 3
This is intended for experienced engineers who have no previous formal qualifications. Having the City & Guilds F Gas certificate prior to attendance is recommended.
Before being able to gain an NVQ, candidates must achieve their Technical Certificate. This is the knowledge based element of the qualification.
Technical Certificate: This takes the form of three examinations that are sat ‘on-line’ and consist of thirty multi-choice questions each. Prior to sitting the exams we offer you the opportunity of taking a written assessment paper to check any areas where knowledge may be lacking to enable revision – this service is offered Free of Charge.
Examinations take place approximately two weeks after enrolment and registration with City & Guilds, by prior arrangement. The fee is £300 + VAT, non refundable and is inclusive of certificates for successful candidates.
National Vocational Qualification: Candidates, who must be employed in the industry, are enrolled for the NVQ programme which takes the form of either:
- One week of attendance for induction and portfolio building followed by attendance by appointment thereafter if necessary. Two visits to the work place must be made by Training Centre staff to assess work based competence. Once evidence is assessed as complete candidates will achieve their NVQ 2 or 3 as appropriate.
- We give instruction in Portfolio building which is carried out in own time. Further instruction is by attendance as necessary, by appointment. Two visits to the work place by Training Centre Staff to assess work based competence. Once evidence is assessed as complete candidates will achieve their NVQ 2 or 3 as appropriate.
The fee is £900 + VAT plus on site visit charges of approx £75 each + VAT. Candidates also need to have a current Safe Handling of Refrigerants certificate and evidence of Brazing competence.
The time it takes to complete the NVQ is entirely down to individual candidates as evidence must be collected from the workplace showing details of either installation or service and maintenance or both, as appropriate.
Enrolment is by completion of booking form, obtainable from Ellis Training Centre.
