Those experienced and busy engineers who simply cannot afford to take more than a couple of days to gain this qualification, may use our ‘DIY Package’
You do the study in your own time and then come along to us for two days, one to get familiar with the assessment process and to do some final revision and the second to carry out the assessment. In order to undertake this package you need to meet the following criteria. You will:
- be a competent brazer
- be formally trained and qualified in refrigeration
- be able to measure and record subcooling and superheating on DX systems
- have a basic knowledge of BSEN 378 – 2008
- be familiar with pressure enthalpy diagrams
What is involved?
The F Gas DIY package consists of:
We will send you the self study booklet when the booking process has been completed to give you the maximum time to prepare for the assessment. This booklet is designed to help you get up to date with the rules and regulations and to ‘brush up’ your knowledge of the necessary theory, principles and current accepted practice concerned with installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, leak checking, safe handling and disposal of refrigerants in Europe today. Maintaining leak free systems which maximise energy efficiency is naturally at the heart of the F Gas regulations and therefore at the heart of the assessment process which is the next stage!
One day of familiarisation with the practical assessment requirements, a final revision tutorial, a session of ‘examination technique’ to give you the best chance to do yourself justice and a chance to review some ‘sample questions’. The final day is assessment day, when you will fabricate your test piece, sit your 40 question multi choice examination and complete your practical assessment.
The fee includes:
City & Guilds registration, self study booklet, one attempt at each assessment (practical and theory examination) refreshments and lunch.
