Hi Gang!

I wanted to say hello and give you a feel for the sort of thing I might be blogging about.

If you’ve been to Ellis Training you’ll know that the governors think they run the place but really I do! Also I often lay around thinking (ok, sometimes I might nod off) but always listening to them and guarding my domain!

Now they’ve asked me to take on additional duties like writing my blog I can keep you all updated about things, like ‘F Gas Regs’ which they talk about a lot. Apparently it seems likely that quite a few people won’t get their qualification in time – before 4th July 2011 – because they will leave it too late to book. It seems daft to me, I’ve been barking at F Gas students since December 2008, they all look like smart people, especially those who make a fuss of me in the office! Overall they appear to like the F Gas course and reckon it’s useful to them.

The Boss (Joy) is forever explaining the process to customers on the phone and she is very patient and helpful to everyone who asks. I am surprised how many times she has to explain what the F Gas qualification is about. However, it does mean that people are beginning to think about getting qualified and what situation they might be in after July 2011 without the qualification. As the governor says “technically no qualification – no work”, he bangs on about a ‘licence to practice’ whatever that is?

There is also a lot of excitement at Ellis Training Works, about the new Electrical qualifications they’re putting together, which hopefully they will launch soon! Too much excitement for me – it disturbs my thinking time! But they have had a lot of interest and are responding to “consumer demand” or something like that.

I don’t know why they are playing with electrics – they tell me off rotten if I chew those cables under the desk!! Apparently it’s to make sure that new installations or repaired installations are safe electrically, seems pretty obvious to me!
