Congratulations

Hi Gang

I’m back, to say CONGRATULATIONS! Having been quiet (well doing lots of barking at this end) over the last six months I thought it was time to have a little bark about F Gas.

Over 1800 engineers have passed their F Gas qualification at Ellis Training, showing that they have sufficient skill and knowledge to comply with the City & Guilds 2079 specification.

Well done to them! They have shown an enthusiasm and willingness to learn that does them credit. Embracing the spirit behind the F Gas Regulations to reduce emissions of synthetic HFC refrigerants and perhaps even more importantly, reducing emissions of CO2 from fossil fuel burning power stations generating electricity for refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pumps systems.

Lets face it, no assessment process is easy (if done properly) and at Ellis Training we pride ourselves in providing a fair assessment so that if the candidate passes, they pass because they have demonstrated clearly that they do possess the required skills and knowledge and can hold their heads up high, secure in the knowledge that they have passed on their own merit!

Stories abound about less scrupulous centres that let themselves and their candidates down but let’s hope they are just stories???

I wanted to point out the major successes that we (including the governor) would like to highlight.

-Because of the F Gas Regs many more people are aware of the impact of systems on the environment, both directly through leakage and much more importantly indirectly through electrical energy usage.

-Making systems tight and efficient should always go together.

-Much greater understanding of tightness testing using oxygen free nitrogen and that pressure varies with temperature in a fixed volume!

-Much greater understanding of the evacuation and dehydration process – a very weak area before F Gas.

-Better focus on the basic function of the simple components that make up all systems.

All in all a great opportunity to improve the image and professionalism of the engineers and companies in this great industry of ours! An opportunity that was not wasted by those who used Ellis Training Works!

Woof Woof!

Ozzy
