H4H Events so far - Total to 30/6/11 £8830
20th Anniversary Party
We held our 20th Anniversary birthday party at Ponsbourne Park De Vere Hotel on March 12 to raise money for Help for Heroes. Attended by 130 guests the celebration helped raise more than £4,000 for our 2011 fundraising campaign for Help for Heroes. Between three lively music sets donated by local seven-piece band, Revival, guests were urged to dig deep for raffle tickets and bid in a silent auction for unique prizes donated by generous local businesses and Cuffley residents. John Ellis said ‘I will be eternally grateful for the skills learnt during my army service which I was able to transfer to the work place. By fundraising for injured soldiers through Help for Heroes, we can hopefully make a positive contribution to their future.’
Tea and Coffee
During the year we asked our students and staff to make a small contribution towards their tea and coffee and to the end of June raised a massive £1930. We have also been selling wristbands to our students and raised £200 through that avenue.
Liquid Receiver
We have been running a regular weekly competition to guess the number of flares in a liquid receiver and to date have raised £375.
Plant Sale
On the 28th April we held a plant sale, this was the culmination of many hours of hard work by Mick Pinch who grew an incredible range of herbs, vegetable and flowers for the event. We had a steady stream of customers throughout the day and raised an enormous £235. This sale was entirely down to the hard work and growing skill of Mick so a massive thank you to him.
The Wheelwrights
Jenny at the Wheelwrights in Goffs Oak also allowed us to have a collection tin on the bar and this has raised £95 so far this year so thank you to all her patrons for their kind donations.
Steve's 5ps
A special mention must go to Steve Duchar who has been collecting 5p pieces for many months now and decided to donate them to Help for Heroes. The grand total was an incredible £59.65.
Book Sale
A book sale on the 10th December raised £62 and left us with a book mountain thanks to the generous donations of books by staff and local residents.
Prior to Christmas a family member took H4H wristbands to work and raised a staggering £600 – Heartfelt thanks to Ian Hotchkiss for an absolutely staggering effort!
Christmas Hamper
The lucky winner, Alan Potter was delighted to receive the Hamper, which raised a staggering £84 from students.
If you would like to make a donation to Help for Heroes through us then you can sponsor Ben on his trek to Everest Base Camp or directly through our bmycharity link.
